CURRENT PROJECTS

Institution-Centred Conflict Studies: applied research methods and teaching in the Caucasus (2016-2019)

Insitution-Centred Conflict Studies project succeeds “Understanding Local Conflicts, Using Development Opportunities” (2011-2013). The project has been approved by Volkswagen Foundation in 2015. The programme implies further work on the basis of two significant upshots which were attained within the previous project – firstly, the two-year master program “Sociology of Conflict” at Kabardino-Balkarian State University, Nalchik, and secondly, North Caucasian Higher School of Conflict Studies.

The information on the upcoming events within the ICCS project is provided on the following page.

PAST PROJECTS

Understanding Local Conflicts, Using Development Opportunities: development and introduction of conflict-related programme units into the learning process (2011-2013)

The School officially does not pertain to the current project but owes much its emergence (see School - About). The project core was curriculum development in the four-unit training course “Conflicts and Development”, which had been oriented to introduce the curriculums in universities in the North Caucasus and Central Asia, notably in Nalchik (North Caucasus, Russia) and Osh (Fergana Valley, Kyrgyzstan). Curriculum development had progressed in collaboration with local partners in the regions. The project focused on nurturing skilled human resources and supporting stronger knowledge and learning capacities. The tailor-made adapted training textbook was issued and introduced into the curriculums of the partner universities (see Publications).
